✦ ABOUT EXHIBITION CALLS

Exhibition open calls, answered.

Exhibition open calls are invitations from galleries, museums, and art spaces to submit work for an upcoming show: juried group exhibitions, themed shows, gallery representation reviews, and online exhibitions. For most artists they are the most direct route to building an exhibition record.

This page tracks exhibition calls that are open right now. Each listing is verified by hand, shows the submission deadline, entry fee, eligibility, and venue, and links directly to the organizer's official submission page.

Do exhibition open calls charge entry fees?
Some do, some don't. Juried exhibitions in the US commonly charge $20–50 per submission, while many university galleries, nonprofits, and international shows are free to enter. Arthead labels the fee on every listing, and you can filter for free calls only.
What is a juried exhibition?
A show where submissions are selected by a juror or panel, usually curators, gallerists, or established artists, rather than accepted automatically. Acceptance into juried shows counts as a professional credit, and the juror names are worth checking: they are often people worth being seen by.
Do I need to ship my work if selected?
For physical exhibitions, usually yes, and shipping costs are typically the artist's responsibility, so factor them in before applying to distant venues. Online exhibitions and digital-media shows skip shipping entirely. Each listing notes the venue location so you can judge the logistics.
Can artists from any country submit?
Many exhibition calls accept international submissions, especially online shows. Physical exhibitions sometimes limit entry to a country or region for shipping and logistics reasons. Arthead states the eligibility on each listing so you can check before preparing a submission.
