Unwrapped: Art Inspired by '80s & '90s Toys

About this call

Evolved Art Gallery in Ventura, California invites original 2D and 3D work for Unwrapped, a curated group exhibition celebrating the toys, games and pop culture artifacts of the 1980s and 1990s, from action figures and retro gaming consoles to plush sidekicks and board games. Accepted mediums include oil, acrylic, watercolor, ink, mixed media, sculpture and limited-edition fine art prints. All work must be for sale, with the gallery keeping a 40% commission. Artwork is due at the gallery on November 9, 2026 and the show opens November 14, 2026.

• Up to 2 pieces per artist, completed originals made entirely by the artist within the last 2 years; no drafts, sketches, work in progress, personal photography or photo portraits of tattoos. 100% human-made: AI-generated, AI-assisted or AI-modified work is not accepted. Maximum 30 inches in any direction including the frame. 2D work must arrive framed, wired and ready to hang (no sawtooth hangers); 3D work must be structurally sound and free-standing or mountable. All work must be for sale (60% artist / 40% gallery). Artists pay all delivery or shipping both ways; shipped work must include a prepaid return label. Accepted work must be delivered to the gallery by November 9, 2026. Submit by email to info@evolvedartgallery.com with the subject "Submission: Unwrapped": high-res photos, title, dimensions, medium and retail price, a portfolio, website or Instagram link, and a short note on what the featured toy means to you.
