James Balog Earth Vision Awards

First Prize 40,000 USD (30,000 at the time of the award, 10,000 twelve to eighteen months later); Finalist 25,000 USD (19,000 at the time of the award, 6,000 twelve to eighteen months later)

The James Balog Earth Vision Awards, produced by the Denver Art Museum, support still photographers worldwide who respond to today's complex environmental issues through innovative photography. First Prize is 40,000 USD and a Finalist award of 25,000 USD is also granted, with each award paid in two installments. Proposals close October 1, 2026.

Media Artists Program: Creation

Up to $15,000 CAD

Toronto Arts Council's Media Artists Program: Creation supports Toronto-based media artists with established independent practices in creating or completing new media works, including independent film, video, audio, digital works, and electronic games. Grants of up to $15,000 cover direct creation and production costs, materials, and post-production expenses for projects with a total budget not exceeding $350,000.

Peninsula Art League 24th National Fine Art Show

Cash prizes totaling more than $8,500, including Best of Show, First Place in 2-D, 3-D and Photography, three Honorable Mentions, and People's Choice.

Peninsula Art League runs its 24th juried National Fine Art Show at the Gig Harbor Vintage Aero Museum in Washington State, on view November 14 to December 2, 2026. Jurors are Jessica Wilks, Director of Curatorial at Tacoma Art Museum, and Greg Robinson, Chief Curator at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Entry is $45 per work for PAL members and $55 for non-members, with additional works at $10 each. More than $8,500 in cash prizes is awarded across 2-D, 3-D and photography.

Howard Tanenbaum Fellowship for Artistic Research

CAD 4,000 stipend for travel, research and other related expenses, paid in two instalments of CAD 2,000. The stipend does not include access to production facilities such as printing labs and darkrooms. Fellows are offered access to the Peter Higdon Research Centre and collection materials.

The Image Centre in Toronto offers the Howard Tanenbaum Fellowship for artists conducting artistic research in its photography collections, including the Black Star Collection of photo-reportage. Applicants submit a 1,000-word project proposal, a CV, a portfolio or moving-image sample, and one letter of recommendation by email. The fellow carries out on-site research in Toronto for one to four weeks between 15 February and 15 December 2027. It is one of six IMC research fellowships offered for 2027.

sƛ̓x̣etkʷ Artist-in-Residence Program, Round 3

Three stipend payments in the amount of $3,000.00 each, totalling $9,000, plus travel reimbursement not exceeding $800, furnished off-campus lodging for three months with kitchen, laundry and WiFi, and access to studio spaces and equipment in the sƛ̓x̣etkʷ Fine and Applied Arts Building.

Spokane Falls Community College hosts a three-month winter-quarter residency for one emerging Native American artist, running 5 January to 26 March 2027. The residency provides $9,000 in stipends, travel reimbursement up to $800, furnished off-campus lodging and access to campus studios and equipment. The artist is expected on campus a minimum of 35 hours per week. Applications are accepted from 15 June 2026 to 20 October 2026 and there is no fee to apply.
