About this call

Asymmetry and Nottingham Contemporary have opened a global call for the inaugural Asymmetry Assistant Curator Fellowship, a two-year post beginning in April 2027 for an early-career curator who identifies, to any extent, with Chinese or Sinophone cultures or backgrounds. The fellow is embedded in Nottingham Contemporary's curatorial team and contributes to exhibitions, artist commissions, live programmes, research, writing and institutional development, working across every stage of a project from research to public presentation and evaluation. A distinctive part of the role is helping shape new strands of the live programme and developing independent exhibition-based and discursive projects. The fellow also joins Asymmetry's international cohort of curators, scholars and researchers, whose partners include Tate Modern, Chisenhale Gallery, SculptureCenter, The Courtauld Institute of Art and Goldsmiths.
