About this call
This edition of Der Greif Pulse invites lens-based artists to explore "The Family Photo", looking beyond the traditional family portrait to family relationships in all their complexity, whether through bloodline, heritage or chosen community. Der Greif welcomes work on the performance of familial roles, on what is kept in the album and what remains unrecorded, the domestic sphere, chosen families, intimate rituals and the unseen dynamics of belonging, from vernacular archive interventions and intimate documentary projects to staged narratives and conceptual studies of shared memory. Selected artists get an online exhibition in Der Greif's Pulse section, an online roundtable critique with peers facilitated by Der Greif staff, and visibility within its international community; some may be invited to submit their portfolio to Der Greif Studio. Der Greif is a non-profit for contemporary photography based in Munich.
