About this call
Sentiers d'Art, a 160 km art and walking loop through seven municipalities of Condroz-Famenne in the Province of Namur, Belgium, marks its 10th anniversary in 2027 and invites proposals for seven land art works on the theme "(Re)Garder (le) vivant", on our relationship with the living and with nature in the face of climate change. Works are made on site, outdoors, during a residency from 27 May to 6 June 2027, and must last at least four years in good condition and safe for the public. Durable materials of any kind are allowed; traditional local materials (stone, clay, wood, trunks, iron) are supplied by the organizer, and artists may meet the public, including schools, during the residency. A jury of artistic experts, representatives of each municipality and of the funders selects the works anonymously, judging durability, use of natural materials, cost and feasibility, the theme, integration into the site and emotional force; results are announced in January 2027.
Who can apply
- Open to applicants of any nationality
- Medium: Sculpture / Installation
- Entry fee: See official site
- Open to an individual artist or a group of artists. Each artist may submit several projects if they are fundamentally different. The work must be made on site during the residency (installing an existing work is not eligible), and the artist needs the technical skills to make it personally; any help needed must be stated in the application form. Works must stay accessible, in good condition and safe for at least four years; if a work becomes unstable or dangerous, the artist must return at their own expense to make it safe. Presence is required for the whole residency, 27 May to 6 June 2027, and at the tour of the works on 5 June; the work must be finished by the morning of 5 June. Sketches made with AI are not considered. The installed work must match the description and sketch in the application, or the organizers may reduce the fee. The materials list must be complete and precise; tools supplied by the organizer require a deposit of at least €100. The jury, not the artist, chooses the municipality where the work is installed. The fee and travel refund are paid on invoice, and any social charges or taxes on the fee are the artist's. The artist arranges their own health and accident insurance; civil liability is covered by the organizers. A personal vehicle is desirable. Under Belgian law the installed works belong to the organizers and landowners. Apply with the online form, or ask info@sentiersdart.be for the Word form; the call text is in French.
