About this call

Fire Station Artists' Studios (FSAS) in Dublin's north inner city invites contemporary international curators to apply for its 2027 International Curator Residencies. The programme provides accommodation and a stipend to live, work and network in Dublin for three to four weeks, with residencies beginning from late January or early February 2027. Curators connect in person with the Irish visual art scene, undertake research and studio visits, and explore exhibition opportunities with Irish artists, with introductions facilitated by FSAS staff where possible. Residents give a short public talk at the start of their stay, take part in studio visits with FSAS artists, write a brief report at the end, and bring publications or ephemera from recent work for the FSAS library. Artist Rouzbeh Shadpey joins the FSAS team on this year's selection panel.

Who can apply

  • Open to applicants of any nationality
  • Medium: Curatorial
  • Entry fee: See official site
  • For curators working independently or with institutions who can spend between three and four weeks in Dublin, with a strong track record and over five years of experience in the field and/or working towards a significant project in relation to the residency, and who are developing curatorial research, practice or relationships in Dublin or Ireland. An awareness of FSAS residents and artistic programme is recommended. Apply by email to apply@firestation.ie with the heading 'International Curator Residency', in a single PDF containing: a statement about your practice and why you are interested in the residency, expanding on your research in relation to Irish visual arts; a CV (3 pages max); documentation of one or two recent projects; two preferred timeframes to visit during 2027 from end of January onwards; a short bio (100 words max) and a captioned 300dpi image to announce your residency if awarded. Access requirements may be added as a separate one-page document. Residents give a short public talk at FSAS at the beginning of their stay, take part in studio visits with FSAS artists and attend FSAS events during their stay, write a brief report at the end of the residency, and bring previous publications or exhibition ephemera from recent work, recommending reading material for the FSAS library where possible. Selection criteria: professional curatorial practice, quality of work, developing curatorial research or practice relationships in Dublin or Ireland, expressed and perceived need for the award, and willingness to engage with the FSAS community.
