About this call

PhotoIreland invites applications for one of four studio spaces at the International Centre for the Image, its cultural space in Dublin, for January to December 2027. The studios sit in a shared open-plan Atelier with a workshop area and kitchenette; each workspace has a sit-stand desk, an ergonomic chair and shelving, and artists have regular access to the centre's art library, art bookshop and staff. Access is 7 days a week during opening hours. The studio comes at no cost to artists, who commit to using it at least 3 days a week. PhotoIreland provides a bursary of up to €1,000, reimbursable for materials, and studio artists take part in studio visits and talk programmes, paid for their time. Previously awarded artists may apply again.

Who can apply

  • Domestic applicants
  • Medium: Photography / Mixed Media
  • Entry fee: See official site
  • Photographers and visual artists based in Ireland, at any level of practice from recent graduates to established. Applicants must commit to the whole period of January to December 2027 (no shorter periods) and to using the studio at least 3 days a week; failing to do so means losing the studio. Studios suit desk-based practices best. Studio artists must take part in studio visits and talk programmes and sign the Safe to Create Code of Behaviour. Apply in two steps: complete the online form, then email one PDF (max 10MB) to admin@photoireland.org with a CV and artist statement, a statement of motivation on how you would use the studio, an outline of previous projects (linked or included) and any specific requirements. Multiple files are not processed; deadlines are not extended.
