About this call
The Calgary Allied Arts Foundation (CAAF) offers studio residencies to support emerging artists, providing space and funding so they can further explore their creative practice and take advantage of opportunities CAAF can provide. The Studio Residency runs 2 or 3 months in CAAF's studio at cSPACE Marda Loop (280 square feet, natural light, 24/7 access) or at the Elveden Centre downtown (250 square feet, 24/7 access), with a stipend of $700 per month paid on completion. The Fuse33 Makerspace Residency runs 6 months in a 100 square foot studio at Fuse33 in Calgary, with a standard monthly membership giving access to laser cutters, 3D and UV printers, sewing machines and metal and wood shops after training, and a $3,000 stipend for materials and training. Residents are encouraged to share their process and engage with the community.

- Emerging artists. Two separate residencies with the same deadline: the CAAF Studio Residency at the cSPACE studio (Marda Loop) or the Elveden Centre studio (downtown Calgary), 2 or 3 months; and the Fuse33 Makerspace Residency, 6 months. All residents must buy an annual CAAF membership; $20 is taken from the stipend for it. Artists who do not live in Calgary get no extra funding or help for travel or accommodation. Living in Canada is not required, but CAAF gives preference to Canadian residents. Selection is based on the project proposal, artistic merit, need for studio space and quality of past work. Selected artists are expected to treat the residency professionally, respecting the studio and their neighbours and acting as representatives of CAAF.
