About this call
Established in 1993, the A.I.R. Fellowship Program for Emerging and Underrepresented Women and Non-Binary Artists has enabled over 130 artists to realize their first solo exhibition in New York City. The program annually awards six emerging artists based in NYC with a solo exhibition, professional development programming, curatorial support, and mentorship during a 12-month fellowship (September 2027 to August 2028). Central to the program are workshops on grant writing and exhibition design, collaboration with an A.I.R. artist mentor, and studio visits throughout the year. Two named fellowship seats honor Emma Bee Bernstein and Louise H. McCagg. The selection process is fully anonymous, conducted in three rounds by an outside panel of curators, critics, and artists. Supported by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, NYSCA, and private foundations.
