✦ SCULPTURE OPEN CALLS

Sculpture open calls, answered.

Sculpture opportunities range from gallery exhibitions and dedicated sculpture prizes to public art commissions and sculpture parks that acquire or exhibit large-scale outdoor work.

This page gathers every live call on Arthead tagged for sculpture and three-dimensional work, each verified by hand with deadline, fee, eligibility, and award listed.

What is a public art commission and how does it differ from a prize?
A commission pays you to create a new site-specific work, usually through a proposal process with a defined budget covering fabrication and artist fee. A prize awards existing work. Commissions typically pay far more but require proposal writing, budgeting, and often engineering coordination.
How do sculpture shows handle transport and installation?
Policies vary widely: some venues cover crating and installation for selected work, others put both on the artist. For heavy or fragile work these costs decide whether a call is worth entering, so check the listing and official terms before applying.
Are there open calls for outdoor and large-scale sculpture?
Yes. Sculpture parks, municipal public art programs, and biennial outdoor exhibitions regularly run open calls, many with loan fees or acquisition budgets. These typically ask for documentation of existing outdoor work plus a maintenance plan, and run on longer timelines than gallery shows.
