Access Support Fund
About this call
Access Support is a supplement to an awarded Canada Council grant, not a standalone grant. The Council describes it as a contribution towards expenses associated with Deaf and disability related supports and services required by the applicant, artistic team and any invited participants to carry out the funded activities laid out in an associated funding application. It responds to the financial disadvantages that many Deaf or disabled artists routinely experience in creating, producing and disseminating art. Eligible expenses include sign language interpretation at up to $75 to $100 per hour or $500 to $750 per day, disability related service providers at up to $25 to $35 per hour or $120 to 250 per day, travel for interpreters and service providers over distances of at least 50 km, note taking, writing and editing at up to $40 to $60 per hour, a personal project coordinator or assistant at up to $25 to $35 per hour, conversion of material into accessible formats, and rental of specialised equipment or subscriptions. Daily living costs, major capital costs and expenses already eligible in the associated application are excluded. The associated funding application must be successful before the Access Support request is assessed.

- Fill out your Self-ID form or the Strategic Group Information form in the portal so the Access Support profile appears in your account, application or nomination. The associated funding application must be successful for the Access Support request to be assessed. Access support must be linked directly to the project activities and does not fund daily living expenses. Applicants with access needs tied to an activity that the Council is not funding can apply under the Micro-grants funding opportunity instead.
