About this call

Aion Laboratory, a division of Ise-Shima Art Company, runs an international competition for digital art, media art and artistic work made with technology. Both individual and collaborative works are welcome. Eligible practices include computer art, electronic art, digital installation, interactive systems, multimedia, video art, animation, sound art, music, AR and VR, and the organizer states these examples are not a closed list. Entries are judged by Aion Laboratory members on originality, individuality, the new possibilities the work opens for digital art, and the technical ability to realize those ideas; a member may not judge an entry by a student or relative. Applications run from 1 April 2026 to 1 March 2027 at 23:59 GMT (UTC+0), which is 08:59 on 2 March in Japan. Results are announced by email and on the website on 5 May 2027, with certificates dispatched within two months.

Who can apply

  • International applicants
  • Medium: New Media / Video / Installation / Performance / Mixed Media
  • Entry fee: ¥3000
  • Artists of any nationality and age may apply, with their own work; collaborative work is accepted and previously exhibited or awarded works are eligible. Multiple entries are welcome, each needing a separate form and a separate JPY 3,000 fee, payable by credit card or PayPal after the form is submitted and non-refundable. Upload the work to a file-hosting or media-sharing service such as Google Drive, Dropbox, SoundCloud, YouTube, Youku or Vimeo, then submit the link and a work description through the Ise-Shima Art Company form, keeping the work reachable until results are announced. Accepted formats: PDF and DOCX for text, JPEG, PNG and TIFF for images, MP4, AVI and MOV for video, MP3 and WAV for audio, and ZIP for several files. AI-assisted work is accepted and must be explained in the form; work made solely by AI is not. Submitted work cannot be revised or replaced. Applicants keep copyright, and entering grants the organizer permission to show the work on its website and in promotional material. Allow mail from info@iseshimaart.com.
