About this call

The Curator Collective in Philadelphia invites submissions for HEARTHBOUND, an open call exploring the warmth we carry, build and return to. Suggested themes include nostalgia, domestic objects, traditions and rituals, hearth and home, and rootedness. All mediums are considered except performance and video or sound work longer than 90 seconds. Selected work is displayed in the gallery and online and must be available for sale.

Who can apply

  • Open to applicants of any nationality
  • Medium: Painting / Drawing / Photography / Printmaking / Sculpture / Mixed Media / Textile / Ceramics / Video
  • Entry fee: $25
  • The page does not state who may apply. Submit by email to orlando@curatorcollectivephilly.com with the subject line "HEARTHBOUND SUBMISSION": high resolution JPG images (1.5MB, 150 dpi) attached or sent as a WeTransfer link copied into the email, one image per 2D piece and up to three per 3D piece; moving image work as an .mp4 of up to 90 seconds (inquire before submitting). Also complete the submission form and pay the fee: a sliding scale of $25 to $40, $25 suggested minimum, non-refundable. The form asks for your first and last name as it should appear in written material, social media handles, website, mailing address and phone, an artist statement of 100 to 150 words linking the work to the theme, and title, year, medium and dimensions for each work. Work must fit into the gallery and through its door (inquire for measurements), arrive framed if applicable, and be available for sale and for display online and in the gallery for the whole exhibition. Commission on works sold is split 50/50 with the gallery, and the gallery arranges shipping or delivery to the buyer after the exhibition. Selected artists sign an individual artist agreement.
