About this call
VisArts, a nonprofit arts center in Rockville, Maryland, United States, invites artists working in all media to apply for solo exhibitions in 2027. Selected artists will show in one of three spaces: the Gibbs Street Gallery (about 1,100 square feet, 16-foot ceilings, street level, suited to large-scale and installation work), the Common Ground Gallery (about 300 square feet) or the Concourse Gallery (about 500 square feet with a curved wall of windows). The program presents emerging and mid-career artists and welcomes ambitious, experimental and interdisciplinary proposals. Local, national and international artists may apply, and applications are reviewed by the VisArts Artist Advisory Council. The call is free.

- Open to international, national and local artists working in all media. Artists who have presented a solo exhibition at VisArts within the past three years are not eligible. Submit through Submittable: application form, up to 10 images of recent or proposed work with captions (.jpg, .tiff, .png or .gif, at least 1920 x 1080 pixels), time-based media up to 10 minutes total (two minutes counts as one work, .mp4 or .mov), artist statement and bio (200 words maximum each), exhibition proposal and resume/CV. Proposed works need not be finished at the time of application unless the form says otherwise. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
