About this call
Works on Paper 2027 is the sixth edition of the annual open exhibition at The Gallery at Green & Stone in Chelsea, London, United Kingdom, opening the centenary year of Green & Stone (founded 1927). It welcomes drawing, painting, watercolour, printmaking, collage, photography, illustration, mixed media, sculpture, book arts and experimental approaches, provided the work is made on or of paper. Submissions are selected anonymously by an independent panel. Selected works are shown and offered for sale from 11 January to 3 February 2027, with a private view on 12 January 2027.
Who can apply
- Open to applicants of any nationality
- Medium: Drawing / Painting / Printmaking / Photography / Mixed Media / Sculpture
- Entry fee: £20
- Open to artists, designers and makers aged 18 and over from anywhere in the world, amateur or professional; a third party such as a gallery or agent may submit on the artist's behalf only with the artist's full authorisation, and accepts all liabilities under the terms. Up to three artworks: £20 for the first, £15 for the second, £10 for the third; artists aged 30 or under on 25/11/2026 pay £15, £12 and £8. Entry fees are non-refundable. Works must be made on or of paper, created within the last 3 years (2024, 2025, 2026), for sale, available until Sunday 7 February 2027, and no more than 100 cm in any direction including frame (exterior frame size for 2D works, longest dimension for 3D works). On prior exhibition the two pages differ: the information page says the work must not have been exhibited in a London gallery before, the rules say not within the past three years. Original prints, hand-made by the artist using traditional printmaking techniques and part of a limited, numbered edition, are accepted; reproduction prints such as Giclée are not. Images must show the work in natural light, on a light background, with all edges visible; low-quality or misleading photographs may lead to disqualification, and any editing that alters the work's appearance will (cropping, straightening and exposure correction are allowed). Payment alone does not complete an entry: an image of each artwork must be uploaded online by the deadline; entries can be edited until then. All 2D works must be framed for delivery, exhibition-ready with D-rings and wire only (no mirror plates). Frames simple and neutral: the information page recommends black, white or natural wood, the rules say white, black or light oak; ornate, brightly coloured, metallic or highly decorative finishes generally not accepted unless agreed in advance; clip frames, metal frames, diffused glass and glazing with exposed edges are prohibited. Mounts plain white or off-white (not cream). Other framing styles must be approved by Green & Stone in advance; the gallery may reframe non-compliant works at the artist's expense or decline them. If a work will not be framed by the deadline, provide an image of another work framed in the same style or a reference image of the intended framing. Prices must include the gallery's 40% commission, any VAT and framing costs; the commission applies to all sales made before, during or as a result of the exhibition, including private sales. Results are announced on 2 December 2026 via the online portal; no feedback is given. Do not enter if you cannot meet the delivery and collection dates. Selected works are delivered in person, unwrapped with labels attached, on 4 or 5 January 2027, 10am to 6pm, and artists must bring their submission documentation; unsold works are collected on 4, 5 or 6 February 2027, 10am to 6pm. Uncollected works go into third-party storage at the artist's expense, and artists may be asked for card details to cover that. Uncollected works may then be sold or disposed of without compensation: the information page says after one month from the final collection date, the rules say after 3 months. Artists arrange their own insurance; artists sending work from abroad pay all import taxes, duties and charges.
