About this call
Sixi Museum, a non-profit art institution in Nanjing, China, launched its International Artist-in-Residence Project in 2024 to support emerging artists. The 2027 open call covers a Spring session (March to May) and an Autumn session (September to November), with two artists hosted at a time. Proposals must address one of two themes: "Flux and Imprints: Contemporary Echoes of Migration History", on cross-regional mobility, the family histories of overseas Chinese, the legacy of colonialism in Asia and identity formation within global geopolitical frameworks, or "Folds of Text: Cross-Media Intertextuality and Intervention", treating text as a medium across literature, linguistics, music and sound and the visual arts. Residents take part in an artist talk, workshop and open studio, are expected to produce a presentable outcome, may exhibit at the end and donate a selection of the works made to the museum.
