About this call

The Sigg Fellowship for Chinese Art Research, offered by M+ in Hong Kong, supports in-depth research into the relationship between tradition and contemporary Chinese art practices since the 1980s.   • Open to applicants of any nationality; no age restriction. Requires a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline, or an undergraduate degree plus at least 3 years of professional or academic experience. Must have proficiency in spoken and written Chinese or English. Research proposal must relate to visual arts and involve new or expanded unpublished research on the 2026/27 theme: the relationship between tradition and contemporary Chinese art practices since the 1980s. Apply with: research proposal (max 1,000 words), complete CV, and two academic or professional recommendation letters. Applicants must be able to obtain a Hong Kong visa. M+ receives exclusive priority to publish the completed research.
