About this call

Greylight Projects in Heerlen and the international dance festival schrit_tmacher jointly offer one three-month residency starting 1 January 2027, at the intersection of visual art and dance. The 2027 festival's common thread is CHAOS AND SILENCE. The residency welcomes interdisciplinary approaches, storytelling and personal or collective narratives, and practices that relate to the social, spatial and historical context of Heerlen and the region; there are no restrictions on discipline or medium. The resident gives a public presentation or talk at the start of the festival and a final presentation of the work or research at its end. The host pays a production and research grant of €900 per month and €500 for the two presentations; the studio of about 40m² doubles as living space.

  • For visual artists, dancers and choreographers based in Europe (the description also names performers). One residency of three months from 1 January 2027 (the page gives the end as 29 March in one place and 30 March in another). The artist is expected to give an introductory talk at the start of the festival and a final presentation (such as a performance) of the results at the end, at Greylight Projects or another location in Heerlen. Artists open to sharing their process with peers and the public are welcome. Applicants are encouraged to discuss any accessibility needs or constraints.
