About this call

Guest Artists Space (G.A.S.) Foundation and Yinka Shonibare Foundation, with the support of Deutsche Bank, invite applications for three residencies in 2027 as part of Project Nexus. Residency 1, Visual Arts and the Environment, runs 11 January to 26 February 2027 (8 weeks) at the G.A.S. Farm House in Ikiṣẹ, Ogun State, for visual artists living and working in Nigeria. Residency 2, Photography, runs 8 February to 5 March 2027 (4 weeks) at G.A.S. Lagos, for photographers living and working in Nigeria. Residency 3, Nigerian Diaspora Visual Artist, runs 8 March to 2 April 2027 (4 weeks) at G.A.S. Lagos and is part-funded: international travel, visa costs, insurance and personal or project-related expenses are not included. Residents are encouraged to share an aspect of their practice through a format such as an open studio, conversation, workshop or presentation; there is no requirement to produce an exhibition or completed artwork. Applications close 3 November 2026 at 11:59pm WAT; final selection is announced 7 December 2026.

  • Residencies 1 and 2: Nigerian nationals currently residing in Nigeria. Residency 3: Nigerian nationals or artists of Nigerian heritage living and working outside Nigeria (Nigerian Diaspora). All applicants must be aged 23 or over, proficient in spoken and written English, and able to provide a reference from a curator, gallerist or cultural institution familiar with their work. No requirement relating to career stage.
