About this call
The Hattiesburg Alliance for Public Art (HAPA), a program of VisitHATTIESBURG, invites professional artists from across the United States to propose a large-scale sculpture for Montague Sculpture Park, a new permanent park in downtown Hattiesburg, Mississippi, that will hold eight permanent sculptures on lit pads. This first call is for a sculpture exploring industry and its connection to Hattiesburg, founded as a railroad and timber town and now also a regional medical hub with two universities; designs may be literal or abstract. The work sits on an approximately 8 by 9 foot pad, may be up to 15 feet tall, and must suit permanent outdoor display in South Mississippi's climate. The selected artist is notified by 30 November 2026 and installs the work in February 2027; it becomes the property of HAPA.
