About this call
The Betsy James Wyeth Fellowship in Native American Art, hosted at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and co-advised with the National Museum of the American Indian, supports scholarly research on historic or contemporary Native American artists, designers, and makers. Fellows are seated in SAAM's Research and Scholars Center and access over 825,000 objects in the NMAI collection, a 324,000-image photographic archive, and the Archives of American Art. Applications must centre Indigenous methodologies, knowledges, and communities. The fellowship runs June 1, 2027 through August 31, 2028, with 12-month appointments for predoctoral scholars and 9-month for postdoctoral and senior researchers.
