About this call

i.ART e. V., the Institute for Artistic Research and Transformation in Freiburg, Germany, runs an international competition on the theme Artistic Research and Transformation. It seeks works that treat artistic practice as a form of research and make social or aesthetic transformation visible. The first prize is €3,000 and may be shared. The competition is open to the full range of creative forms; the work may already exist or may be realised with the prize money in an exhibition or performance. Winning works are presented online, works that do not win may also be presented, and further exhibition opportunities are sought depending on the type of work. The jury is made up of board members of i.ART e. V.; participants are notified from March 31, 2027.

  • Entry fee: €25
  • Open to art students and to graduates whose degree was completed no more than five years ago; individuals and teams may enter. Proof of eligibility is required: a current certificate of enrollment (students) or a degree certificate or equivalent proof showing the date of graduation (graduates). One work per person or team, of recent date; it may already be realized and/or be realized and presented with the prize money in an exhibition or performance, and it must not have already received a public prize. AI-generated elements must be declared as such. The work must be the artist's property and the participants its authors; i.ART e. V. may publish submissions on its website and in its competition communications, and the works remain the applicants' property. Participation fee €25, transferred in advance, with proof of payment attached. Submit one combined PDF (max. 20 MB) by email to info@i-arts.org: the completed template with names, addresses and a signed declaration of originality, proof of eligibility, information about the participant(s) (max. 1 page per person; for larger teams max. 3 pages) and a description of the work with text and images (max. 3 pages). The deadline is 24:00 CET on February 1, 2027. The jury's decision is final.
