About this call
Oeno Gallery, a commercial contemporary gallery in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada, invites proposals for the 15th exhibition year of its Sculpture Garden at Huff Estates Winery, opened in 2011. Sites include the garden itself, the outdoor areas around the winery, the grounds around the gallery and the limestone quarry pond. A selection committee considers the sculptor's exhibition history and the work's originality, durability, technical execution and retail potential; approximately 20 to 30 works are selected each year. The garden receives about 30,000 visitors a year, and the gallery's outdoor sculptures have ranged in price from about $2,000 to $500,000 (CDN).
Who can apply
- Open to applicants of any nationality
- Medium: Sculpture
- Free entry
- Open to any professional sculptor; the gallery has a modern and contemporary focus and selected works fit that mandate. Works must be original (or in a limited edition signed series), durable, safe in an unsupervised outdoor setting, able to withstand year-round weather including rain, snow, strong winds and salty air, and available for sale. There are no limits on materials or size, but works must suit the acreage; the garden has no power supply, so works needing electricity must have their own solar power. Send proposals (in English or French) by email to submissions@oenogallery.com by 12 p.m. EST on 14 January 2027, with contact information, artist statement or bio, CV, a single Word document with title, year, medium and size of each work and how it relates to your practice, one folder of high resolution JPEGs (at least 300 dpi and 1500 pixels wide) labelled with the title, a project description and installation plan (covering transport to the garden, installation, and packing for freight shipping if sold; an onsite forklift is available on prior request), the estimated retail price, an artist photo, and other examples in a separate folder. Works stay on consignment for at least one year (the gallery may ask to extend this if a work does not sell) and must be ready for installation in early May 2027. There is no artist's fee for exhibiting, but the artist pays all costs of making, shipping, installing and, if unsold, removing the work. Commission splits range from 50%/50% to 55%/45% (artist/gallery) depending on fabrication cost, paid to the artist on sale; once sold, the gallery arranges transport to the buyer. The gallery cannot assume any liability for damage to the work while it is on site.
