About this call

BAU Gallery, an artist-run space in Beacon, New York, invites solo show proposals. The selected show runs June 11 to July 4, 2027 and is featured in the gallery's programming for Upstate Art Weekend (June 24 to 28, 2027). It includes about 350 sq ft of exhibition space, one street-facing window, PR and marketing, inclusion in Upstate Art Weekend, an opening reception and an artist talk. Accepted media are all 2D and 3D work: drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation, digital and video.

Who can apply

  • Open to applicants of any nationality
  • Medium: Drawing / Painting / Printmaking / Sculpture / Installation / New Media / Video
  • Entry fee: $50
  • Open to all artists 18 and over. Entry fee by date: $40 from September 23 to October 21, 2026, $45 from October 22 to November 21, 2026, and $50 from November 22, 2026 to January 15, 2027 (each to 11:59 PM EST); the final entry deadline is January 31, 2027 (the fee schedule names no fee for January 16 to 31). Incomplete or unpaid submissions are not considered. Upload one PDF with an artist statement (third person, 80 to 100 words recommended), exhibition title, exhibition statement and 10 images of original work you intend to show (or work in progress details) with title, media, dimensions, year and price, plus any programming ideas; upload your most recent CV as a separate PDF and give a website or Instagram link. Installation is June 8 to 10, 2027 and deinstallation after 6 PM on July 4 and/or July 5. The selected artist must be present for installation and deinstallation, attend the opening reception and take part in an artist talk and Meet and Greet during Upstate Art Weekend, and must deliver, install and remove all work in person: the gallery cannot accept shipped work. Applicants are recommended to live within 70 miles of the gallery; those farther away may apply if they can meet the in-person requirements. All work on display must be for sale (exceptions case by case); the gallery takes 40%, and sales resulting from the show go through the gallery until August 4, 2027. Work must be install-ready: 2D work with hanging hardware, podiums for 3D work arranged with the gallery before installation, and video artists provide their own monitors. The gallery may turn away work without proper hardware, not structurally suitable, or not matching the submitted images. Significant changes to the space, such as wall color, need the gallery's approval, and the artist pays the cost and labor of restoring it. For AI-generated images, choose "Other" under medium and describe how the image was made (the software used, how it was used, and how the image will be presented physically); NFTs are not accepted. Notification by March 1, 2027.
