About this call
Triangle Arts Association, an artist residency in Brooklyn, New York, United States, invites US-based and international artists or collectives working in any medium to apply for its 2027-2028 studio residencies. Each residency lasts three months, with about four artists per season, in studios of 180 to 500 square feet with 13 foot ceilings and 24-hour access in DUMBO. All residents also take part in a 3-day intensive on the theme "The Fourth Wall" from May 27 to 29, 2028, which reinvents the original Triangle Artists Workshop. Residents are not expected to produce an exhibition or specific outcome. Triangle does not provide housing; travel and accommodation for the intensive are covered by Triangle on a case by case basis.
Who can apply
- Open to applicants of any nationality
- Medium: Mixed Media
- Entry fee: $10
- Open to US-based or international artists or collectives in any medium or discipline. Applying is free until November 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET; from December 1 to December 15, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, a $10 processing fee applies. No additional fees for the residency; residents pay for their own housing, travel, visa and materials. Residents must be available for a 3-month residency (June to August 2027, September to November 2027, December 2027 to February 2028, or March to May 2028) and for the full intensive dates, May 27 to 29, 2028. Residents are expected to spend at least 15 hours a week in the studio, be present for studio visits several times a month and take part in an open studio in the final month. Residents also take part in gatherings such as shared studio visits, a potluck and group visits to NYC exhibitions. Artists should not be enrolled in a program that grants a studio, such as another residency or a degree-granting program, while at Triangle. An MFA or past residencies are not required. Because the studios are large-scale, preference goes to artists who need space to work; strong preference for artists who have not been in the residency before. Artists living in countries with a Triangle partnership should apply through that partnership's local open call. People who will share a studio must apply jointly as collaborators or a collective. Application: CV, 10 work samples (image uploads or embedded links) and three answers of up to 200 words each, on your artistic practice, what interests you about the intensive theme, and what you plan to work on during the residency. Applicants who expect travel, accommodation or other costs in New York to attend the intensive should say so in the accommodations section of the application.
