ART CIRCLE Austria, Wolfgangsee 2027 Open Call

About this call

ART CIRCLE, a festival founded in Slovenia in 2011, holds its annual residency on Wolfgang Lake in St. Wolfgang, Austria, from April 11 to 19, 2027. Each year around 20 artists from across the globe live and work for a week in hotels overlooking the lake, are introduced to the cultural heritage of the region, and show their work in a final exhibition, held April 16 to 18, 2027 at the Erlebnisquartier in St. Wolfgang. Professional artists from all fields may apply, with a focus on visual arts; this year the organizers are expressly interested in performance artists.

• For mid-career professional working artists from all fields, with a focus on visual arts; students cannot be considered except PhD researchers. The programme language is English and an acceptable level of English is required; the form and all documents must be in English. Artists pay their own transport to and from St. Wolfgang, are present in the studio from 14:00 to 17:00 each working day (open to the public) and contribute to the final presentation. Workspaces are in and around the hotels, mostly indoors, with no special equipment or tools; dust and dangerous vapors must be avoided. No pets, partners, family members or other people may come to the residency. Email the application form (professional title, name, country of origin or nationality, email, home address, links) with a short professional biography (max. one A4 page), 5 to 10 images of recent work (preferably as a single PDF) and a short project proposal stating medium and spatial requirements (max. one A4 page) to artcircle.wolfgangsee@gmail.com; applicants not working in the visual arts describe how they will contribute to the final presentation. On the form, artists can say they are interested in giving a three hour painting master class during the residency for an additional sum of 300 EUR. A professional jury selects; applicants are notified by January 1, 2027.
