Writer Callout: "Your Shout: The Open Issue" (Artlink Issue 47:1)

About this call

Artlink, the contemporary art magazine based in Adelaide, Australia, invites writers to pitch for Issue 47:1, "Your Shout: The Open Issue", giving a shout-out to the most pressing, neglected and intriguing topics and ideas of the 2027 season. It welcomes scholarly essays, interviews, reviews and critique, art-storytelling, profiles, art-historical and philosophical analysis, collaborative articles, letters to the editor, concrete poetry and poetic complaints on contemporary art by living or recently departed artists and related discourse. All writers are notified 7 to 10 December, full submissions are due 7 February 2027 and the issue is published on 1 April 2027.

Artlink encourages writing on contemporary art by living or recently departed artists and related discourse; the publishing is image-rich, so written material also requires visual thinking. Commissioned pieces are 1,200 to 2,500 words, with full submissions due 7 February 2027. Artlink says its remit is to promote diverse writing from across Australia and the Asia-Pacific; the call names no other condition on who may write, and does not mention a submission fee.
