About this call
The Confluence: Art in Twisp, a non-profit gallery in Twisp, Washington, United States, invites work for "Wabi Sabi: Unexpected Beauty", an exhibition on the appeal found in imperfection, incompleteness and impermanence. Inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, it will show art that reflects the passage of time, transformation or growth, art inspired by weathered or irregular forms and materials, and handmade work that reveals the artist's imprint. Artists are encouraged to show beauty through subtlety and simplicity, worn surfaces or evidence of time and use. All media will be considered, including sculpture, painting, photography, ceramics, fiber arts and mixed media. Curators: Ed McCarthy and Marcy Stamper. The opening reception is on January 16, 2027, 5 to 7 PM, and the exhibit closes February 27, 2027.

Each piece must be your own original work, available for sale, created in the last 3 years, never previously shown in Okanogan County, and ready for hanging with hardware or wire secured; works without hanging hardware or not professionally presented will not be hung, and no dented or scratched frames unless part of the work; any size, any medium. Accepted artists deliver completed works by January 2, 2027 (about two weeks before the opening if shipping, one week if delivering in person), sign and title each work on the back, and complete the Confluence contract and an artist statement and bio. Shipping to and from the gallery is at the artist's cost; the gallery insures work in its possession but not in transit, and for return shipping you provide a prepaid label within 5 working days. The call page states commission of 60/40 for non-member artists and 65/35 for members; the Confluence contract gives the gallery 50% for artists living outside Okanogan County, and 20% on sales the artist makes within one month after the exhibit as a result of it. Curators may refuse work even after delivery. Pick up 10 AM to 2 PM on February 28 and March 1, 2027; all work must be collected by March 30, 2027, and work left more than one month after the exhibit may become the gallery's property. The organizer's page does not state an entry fee.
