About this call

Busan Metropolitan City invites international professionals and interdisciplinary teams to submit proposals for a site-specific land and ecological art commission on Eulsukdo, an ecologically significant island at the Nakdong River estuary in Busan, South Korea. The 49,326 square meter site is a major migratory bird habitat designated as a natural monument since 1966. The open call theme explores the contrast between the brief presence of humans and the long ecological time of the land. Proposals must demonstrate an ecological perspective through installation, structure, or process-based work integrated with the site's natural environment. The selected work will become part of Busan's initiative to establish Eulsukdo as a global ecological art destination and contribute to the designation of the first national urban park. The total project budget of 380 million KRW covers all production, installation, and residency costs, with an artist fee of 20 million KRW. Proposals open November 2 and close November 22, 2026. Results announced December 2026; exhibition planned for the first half of 2027.
