About this call

Gloria's Foundation, named in celebration of Gloria Steinem's work as an activist and organizer, will select two Fellows for a one-year fellowship running January to December 2027, for activists, artists, change-makers and creative thinkers whose work or independent project centers around justice. Fellows get access to the Foundation's space on the Upper East Side of New York City twice a month (office with a Mac desktop and printer), its library, support from the team, a $5,000 stipend and lunch when working on site. Each Fellow may organize two Talking Circles with up to five guests. The Foundation cannot help with housing.

Who can apply

  • International applicants
  • Medium: Mixed Media
  • Entry fee: See official site
  • Applicants must be at least 18, able to work in the U.S., identify as activists, artists, change-makers or creative thinkers, and be able to provide one professional reference on request. Fellows must live in the NYC Metropolitan area for the full duration of the fellowship; those based elsewhere must find housing there themselves, and the Foundation cannot assist with housing. The application has a required field for links to your or your organization's website if you have one, an optional one for social media handles, and asks you to describe yourself and your current work in 5 to 10 sentences, the project you are most passionate about and how the fellowship could help it, how your work might contribute to the Foundation, any major conflicts, any collaborators who would need time on site, and whether you cannot commit to working on site at least once per month. Space visits are two per month, 9am to 6pm, booked one week in advance. Each Fellow may organize two Talking Circles (up to 5 guests, with the team's approval, scheduled two months in advance), and Fellows are expected to help shape the Fellowship, which may include giving feedback in an interview with Foundation staff. Application fee: not stated. Fellows are notified by December 1, 2026.
