About this call
Eyebeam's NYC Residency (Spring/Summer 2027) supports six New York City artists with time, space, mentorship and a peer community to develop a new project or idea around this year's theme, AGENCY: questions of power, autonomy, technological systems and collective action at a moment when AI systems increasingly act and decide on our behalf. Projects may engage AI directly but do not have to. The residency suits projects with a clear direction already in place. Over 12 weeks (March 15 to June 11, 2027) residents join weekly cohort sessions, share work in progress with peers and guest critics, hold a public open studio midway, present their process at a closing showcase and contribute to an end-of-year publication. Each receives a $5,000 stipend.

A video sample may be any length but you must specify a 2-minute segment, with a Public or Unlisted link kept active at least 90 days past the deadline; an image sample is a single image, document, PDF or slide deck of no more than 3 pages for a single work. Materials over these limits will not be considered. Demographic questions are optional. Deadline 11:59 PM Eastern on November 15, 2026; interviews December 7 to 10, notifications December 14, 2026; residency March 15 to June 11, 2027. Residents take part in weekly cohort sessions, share work in progress with peers and guest critics, hold a public open studio midway, present at a closing showcase and contribute to an end-of-year publication.
