About this call
The Charles Allis Art Museum in Milwaukee, United States, invites one artist to its 2027 residency to engage with the museum's collection of more than 800 historic pieces from the early 20th century. The studio is in the historic washroom in the basement of the 1911 Tudor-style mansion, and the artist lives in a furnished apartment at Saint John's On The Lake, a retirement community across the street. The residency begins in January, with art creation, studio tours and collection research from January to May, and culminates in an exhibition throughout the historic house from June 24 to September 26, 2027. The artist develops public programs with museum staff and takes part in two exhibition-related programs. The program provides a furnished studio apartment with private bathroom and access to the gym, library and pool at Saint John's, a $1,800 artist honorarium, up to $400 travel stipend, light tools and materials, meals at the Saint John's dining facility when the artist dines with residents 3 or more times a week, staff support and professional documentation of the exhibition.
