About this call

Transatlantic Stars, a three-year initiative of the European Union Delegation to the United States, selects six mid-career visual artists who are citizens of EU Member States and places each in one of six U.S. artist residency programs for eight weeks in spring 2027 (April to early June). Sites include a fishing community on the Gulf of Alaska, a coastal Oregon ecological reserve, a Southern urban arts hub, a Midwestern prairie town, a ranch in the American West and a studio in the woods outside New Orleans. Each artist collaborates with a U.S.-based peer, joins monthly virtual gatherings with the cohort, and ends with a public summit and exhibition in Washington, D.C. Selected artists receive airfare and visa assistance, on-site lodging and studio space, access to host facilities, a living stipend and a materials budget. The program welcomes all visual mediums with a strong visual component in physical space; each artist pair must produce at least one physical work for the Washington exhibition.
