About this call

Science Gallery Bengaluru's inaugural Curatorial Fellowship invites an emerging curator or curatorial collective to develop a companion exhibition, with a public programme, in response to QUANTUM, its current exhibition season on measurement, observation, uncertainty and possibility. Proposals should use quantum physics as a starting point for new questions across disciplines, and may work with existing works, research, archives or practices and commission new artworks within the budget. The fellow is mentored by interdisciplinary artist Moonis Ahmad Shah, has access to the QUANTUM exhibition and research materials, and works with the gallery's curatorial and programmes teams. The fellowship runs from November 2026 to March 2027, production and installation from April to June 2027, and the showcase from 5 June to 7 August 2027 in a designated gallery space in Bengaluru, India. Interviews take place on 6 and 7 November 2026.

Who can apply

  • India only
  • Medium: Curatorial
  • Entry fee: See official site
  • Open to emerging curators and curatorial collectives of Indian nationality who are based in India; artists, researchers and cultural practitioners with an interdisciplinary practice are also eligible. Submit through Submittable a curatorial proposal of 500 words, a current CV, a statement of purpose on your approach to curation, two references (name, email, phone and relationship), and an indicative budget if the proposal involves new commissions or significant production. Review the QUANTUM exhibition before writing the proposal. The statement of purpose does not require previous curatorial experience; applicants should show previous work, projects or experiences that speak to their ability to develop ideas through research, collaboration or engagement across disciplines. The production budget can be used for artist fees, commissions, fabrication, materials and other production needs; independent funding is not discouraged if it falls within the gallery's guidelines. The fellow develops the curatorial proposition and oversees the exhibition's development with the gallery.
