About this call

Next Jazz Legacy is a national apprenticeship and mentorship program by New Music USA designed to elevate emerging jazz improvisers. Led by GRAMMY-winning artist Terri Lyne Carrington and developed in partnership with the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice, the program is funded by the Mellon Foundation. Selected artists receive a comprehensive support package including intergenerational mentorship, performance showcases at major jazz festivals, professional networking opportunities, and financial resources for creative and career development. The program welcomes jazz artists across all instruments and voices, including saxophone, trumpet, bass, drums, vocals, piano, trombone, and percussion.

Applicants must be 21 to 35 years old at the time of application, have professional experience, and be based in the US or a US territory.
