About this call

The City of Commerce City and the Commerce City Cultural Council are purchasing two pieces of artwork for Second Creek Farm Park, a new seven acre park in Commerce City, Colorado, due for completion in the third quarter of 2026. The park includes play equipment for children aged two to twelve, a ninja course, shaded picnic areas, an amphitheatre with lawn and a restroom, and the base prepared for the artwork is eight feet in diameter. The selection committee wants work that picks up the playful colors and shapes of the park design, is educational and interactive enough to draw children in, and is safe and durable enough for visitors to climb on. The budget for the commission is $46,000. Eligible applicants are artists residing in Colorado or in the Colorado Region, which the city defines as Colorado plus Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Utah and Arizona. Applications are made through the CaFE system with no application fee and close on September 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Installation is expected in early 2027.
