About this call

Scuola Piccola Zattere is a non profit space for continuous education and research in the expanded field of contemporary arts, based at Dorsoduro 1401 in Venice. It is selecting two fellows for its third season of activity, titled Living Document. Each fellow spends three months in Venice pursuing their own artistic or research practice, either from early January to early April 2027 or from mid April to mid July 2027, which places the residency right before or during the 2027 Architecture Biennale. Applicants indicate which slot they want, or both. The season's research themes are practices that revisit or reactivate archival traces and regulatory documents, the rule as a generative tool of customs, collective rituals and games as well as a constraint to be circumvented, and the forms of aggregation, conflict and negotiation in social dynamics read through space and the body, architecture and performativity. Fellows both receive and offer mentorship, work alongside practitioners from other disciplines, and share their research through the Scuola's public programme in formats such as workshops, presentations, seminars, screenings or performances.
