About this call
The Hayama Artist Residency is a 4-week program located in Hayama, a coastal town in Kanagawa Prefecture on the Miura Peninsula of Japan, facing Sagami Bay. The program introduces visual artists from around the world to Japanese culture and provides the opportunity to hold a gallery exhibition in Japan. Residents stay at Hotel ami hayama and receive travel and accommodation support as well as a living stipend. Applications are reviewed by the program director and a selection committee of international curators and arts professionals. Artists selected for the June 2027 session will be notified by December 15, 2026.

- Medium: Painting / Drawing / Printmaking / Photography / Sculpture / Ceramics / Textile / Mixed Media / Installation / New Media / Video / Performance / Ink
- Entry fee: $95
- Open to individual visual artists aged 21 and over, working in any medium, based anywhere in the world. Applications must be submitted in English. Submit up to 10 media samples in any combination of JPEG, audio, or video (audio and video must not exceed 10 minutes each; individual file size limit 400 MB; total submission limit 800 MB). Alternatively, submit up to 10 links on a single-page PDF. Application fee: USD 95 for first-time applicants (waived for returning applicants). The program is intended for individual artists; families and partners may not accompany residents.
