Public Art Commission: Buffalo Run Golf Course Clubhouse

The City of Commerce City and the Commerce City Cultural Council are purchasing artwork for the newly expanded and renovated Buffalo Run Golf Course clubhouse in Commerce City, Colorado. The work will be painted on or affixed to an exterior clubhouse wall measuring 26 feet 7 inches long by 12 feet high. The selection committee is looking for a rustic feel that honors the agricultural history of the area, with movement expressed through wind, wildlife and prairie grasses, and a mood that evokes joy and relaxation for viewers of all ages. The budget for the commission is $120,000. Eligible applicants are artists residing in Colorado or in the Colorado Region, which the city defines as Colorado plus Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Utah and Arizona. Applications are submitted through the CaFE system with no application fee and are due September 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Applicants are asked to submit a project budget and to state whether the artwork is AI generated. Installation is planned for the first quarter of 2027.
