Public Art Commission: 96th Ave & Reunion Pkwy Corner & Underpass
About this call
The City of Commerce City and the Commerce City Cultural Council are purchasing artwork for a new pedestrian underpass at the corner of 96th Avenue and Reunion Parkway in Commerce City, Colorado. The underpass will give students a safe crossing to the new Rocky Vista High School, and the artwork may extend through the underpass to the far side of the parkway if the budget allows. The selection committee is looking for interactive sculptural or other artwork that plays on the Rocky Vista name, celebrates community and unity, and is safe and appropriate for all ages. The budget for the commission is $181,000. Eligible applicants are artists residing in Colorado or in the Colorado Region, which the city defines as Colorado plus Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Utah and Arizona. Applications go through the CaFE system with no application fee, and close on September 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Semi-finalist interviews run through autumn, with installation expected in early 2027.
