Onchain Artist Residency: Origin Of Primary Source
About this call
Padimai Art & Tech Studio, a Singapore based studio founded by Vignesh Sundaresan, is running a three month remote residency built around OOPS, Origin Of Primary Source, a framework that draws attention to origin, source material, archival form and the systems through which artworks are organised and made legible. The residency asks how artworks are produced, documented, translated and encountered through digital systems, and treats blockchain not only as a technical tool but as a conceptual and curatorial condition. Selected artists work across the role of technology in artistic production, blockchain as documentation and archival practice, the translation of references and source materials into digital formats, methodologies for organising creative data, and the use of datasets to open new ways of accessing and experiencing artworks. The residency is remote, with community engagement designed through online meetings, and runs from September 20 to December 20, 2026. At the end of the three months participants deliver three NFTs developed during the residency to Padimai.

- Proposals are invited from creative practitioners interested in the intersection of art, technology and blockchain, from individuals with prior experience in any of these fields, from individuals with the rigor to expand the boundaries of NFTs and blockchain technology, and from those who want to share working process, methodologies and acquired knowledge with the digital commons. Five practitioners will be selected. Selected proposals are announced on September 15, 2026, and the residency runs from September 20 to December 20, 2026. At the end of the residency participants deliver three NFTs developed during the residency to Padimai. Full application details are in the open call PDF linked from the residency page.
