Mondriaan Fund Residency Grant for Artists and Curators
About this call
The Mondriaan Fund offers the Residency grant to visual artists, curators and art observers who want to deepen their professional practice and expand their networks through a working period in the Netherlands or abroad. Participants spend a period at a Dutch or international studio designated by the Fund, allowing for the exploration of new national and international contacts and markets. The aim is the creation of work that makes a valuable contribution to contemporary visual art and/or cultural heritage in the Netherlands and/or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. The current round covers work periods in 2027 at ten open residencies, including Inside-Out Art Museum in Beijing, A4 Residency Art Center in Chengdu, American Academy Rome, Delfina Foundation in London, U-jazdowski Castle in Warsaw, Drawing Centre Diepenheim, Odapark in Venray, Nesse in Terneuzen, Kunstwerk Kolderveen and Make Eindhoven. An applicant may apply for two residencies in one round, submitting a separate form and PDF attachments for each and indicating a preference.

- Visual artists must have been working professionally for at least one year and be artistically active and embedded in the professional visual arts practice in the Netherlands and/or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. Curators and art observers need at least one year of demonstrable practice in visual arts or cultural heritage. Applicants enrolled in Bachelor's, Master's, postgraduate or PhD programmes are not eligible, apart from part time programmes under 20 hours a week. Applicants may not be receiving other Mondriaan Fund support covering the same costs, and a maximum of one Residency grant is awarded per applicant per calendar year. The application requires an explanation of work and cultural entrepreneurship (max 3 pages), a CV (max 3 pages), a plan (max 4 pages), visual documentation (max 20 pages for artists, max 25 pages for curators, up to 500 MB), a documentation list, banking details and, where applicable, a diploma and proof of registration in the population register. An account on the Mondriaan Fund application system is required. Processing takes three months after the deadline and no grants are awarded retrospectively.
