Impart/Nalli Silks: 2027 Research Fellowships on South Asia Textiles

About this call

The Impart and Nalli Silks Research Fellowships support textile-focused research across the wider South Asia region. Two fellowships of INR 5.5 lakhs each fund one year of independent research starting January 2027. The programme welcomes early- and mid-career researchers, designers, archivists, journalists, writers, educators, practitioners, collectives, and small organizations aged 18 or older from anywhere in the world.

• Open to applicants aged 18 or older residing anywhere in the world. Projects must engage with textile practices across the wider South Asia region. Submit via Google Form: budget, timeline, CV, work samples, and up to two recommendation letters. Supported formats include journalistic inquiry, documentary film, archive activation, practice-based research, digitization initiatives, exhibition, or book projects.
