About this call
Gil Artist Residency is an artist-in-residence programme located in Akureyri, North Iceland, run by the Gil Society. It offers one-month or two-month stays across January to December 2026. Gil can accommodate one or two artists in a private apartment with a studio, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, and a gallery for final events and exhibitions. This is a self-funded residency: the monthly fee is EUR 700 for one artist, with an additional EUR 375 per month for a second artist, partner or guest. There is no stipend. Resident artists are expected to give a presentation and/or exhibit their work at the gallery Deiglan, generally on the last weekend of each month. The application deadline for this cycle is August 15, 2026.
