Fall 2026 Artist in Residence Program, Richmond Hill Cultural Centre

The City of Richmond Hill invites professional artists to apply for the Fall 2026 Artist in Residence Program at the new Richmond Hill Cultural Centre in Ontario. The selected artist shapes the visual identity of the building through a public art project that links an interior mural with two exterior street pole banners. Deliverables are one hand painted mural in the Cultural Centre boardroom of roughly 106.5 by 96 inches, and two complementary print ready banners measuring 24 by 60 inches each. The theme is open to artist interpretation but should align with the City's Strategic Plan vision of a vibrant and inclusive city of neighbours. The City provides a lockable studio at the Cultural Centre, an artist fee plus an approved production budget, and support for promotion, coordination and site access, while the artist supplies their own materials and cannot use oil paints or hazardous processes on site. The residency runs from mid-September to mid-December 2026 and the artist must deliver at least two community workshop or open studio sessions. Applicants must be 18 or over, Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents legally able to work in Canada, and applications close Monday, August 17 at 11:59 p.m.
