About this call
AiRViNe and Asterisk in Residence Kyoto invite creators based in Southeast Asia to spend one month in Kyoto, Japan, on a residence exchange programme. The stay is flexible between September 2026 and March 2027, and the specific residency site is decided together with the organisers. The programme is aimed at people shaping cultural ecosystems beyond conventional artist categories, including cultural coordinators, mediators, curators, craft practitioners, heritage workers, gardeners, chefs and community organisers. Selected participants receive a round-trip international flight, full accommodation at a designated residency site, introductions to local artisans, cultural institutions and community groups, plus coordination support before and after the stay. Applicants must be aged 25 to 45 and able to communicate at a basic level in English; freelancers and people affiliated with organisations are both welcome.
