About this call

Myoju is an independent artist residency in Omihachiman, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, about 35 minutes from Kyoto. The fully sponsored fellowship runs September 1 to 28, 2026 and is open to artists, writers, curators and digital creators worldwide. Fellows receive a private studio and bedroom with shared bathroom and communal kitchen facilities. Participants may opt into an end-of-residency exhibition and have the opportunity to sell work through the gallery café. Return travel, meals and personal expenses are not covered. Selection emphasises responsiveness to the local environment, clarity of artistic intent and collaborative ability.
