About this call
The JUNGE AKADEMIE of the Akademie der Künste, VISIT (the E.ON Foundation's fellowship programme), E-WERK Luckenwalde and Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw offer four fully funded fellowships to emerging international artists for 2027. This year's theme, ENERGY GHOSTS, asks for projects at the intersection of art, energy and ecology that treat energy as material, political and ecological, a haunting presence and a relational force linking human, more-than-human and technological worlds. Proposals are welcome from visual art, performance, film, installation, sound, writing and new media. Each fellow receives EUR 20,000 for artist fees and production costs. Three fellows get studio space and accommodation at E-WERK Luckenwalde and one in Berlin, from mid-August to mid-November 2027, with the Warsaw Water Retreat at Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in August 2027 and a symposium at the Akademie der Künste in autumn 2027.

- For emerging international artists from all disciplines; proposals can come from individual artists or project groups (one contact person in the form). Apply through the online portal by 1 December 2026, 23:59; the form cannot be saved and resumed. It asks for education, main exhibitions, projects and awards, a project title and description relating the work to the "Human Machine" topic, a budget for the EUR 20,000, a timeframe, resources needed, a portfolio as one PDF (max. 20 MB), optional project sketches as PDF (max. 20 MB) and optional links. Specialised education at a university or academy is desirable but not required. The EUR 20,000 covers artist fees and production costs of a new project (research and development, travel, material and presentation costs). Starting times are negotiated per project, but where possible the project should begin in the year of selection and be completed within six months after. Fellows are expected to live and work on site for at least 75% of the three-month residency (mid-August to mid-November 2027) and take part in the artistic programme. Applicants are informed at the end of January 2027. The pages do not mention an application fee.
