About this call

The G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize, founded in 2019, commissions a new site-specific artwork that stays on permanent display in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, and joins the Foundation's collection. The 2027 edition invites Greek and international artists to propose a large-scale sculptural installation for permanent outdoor display, designed as a landmark, at one of three proposed sites. It is open to sculpture, installation, sound installation, mixed media, natural materials, land, environmental and ecological art, and practices that interweave art and nature to create innovative experiences in open-air environments. The winner receives €15,000, the Foundation covers production, transport and installation, and the artist has February to May 2027 to make the work, which is unveiled in June 2027.

Applicants declare they are over 18. Proposals must be new, original works for one of the three proposed sites. Apply in Greek or English only through the form on the Foundation's website (a short presentation of your work and research, the proposal, CV up to 10MB, portfolio up to 50MB, up to 3 attachments totalling 50MB); applications sent by email or otherwise are rejected unless arranged in advance. The prize is paid 30% on accepting the award and 70% on final delivery, and the artist must issue a legal invoice or receipt. The award is formalised in a private agreement with the Foundation, and payments go to a bank account matching the invoice issuer. The Foundation's support must be explicitly credited in any communication related to the Art Prize.
